So, I own Galactic Civilizations 2.  I don't know much about Fallen Enchantress, except that it's a Civ game and there's magic.

Why do I need to buy Fallen Enchantress, if I have GalCiv2?  What does it do better, what worse, different, etc.?

The game I've been working on since I started at Stardock more than a year and a half ago has finally been announced. The game's official site is at http://www.elementalgame.com/ and it contains several screenshots and pieces of concept art.

Elemental is due out in February 2010.

And it's going to be absolutely rad.

Seriously. I want to give you my money for this upcoming fantasy game you've got in the works, even though it may only be on the drawing board at the moment. I love Master of Magic, Dominions 3, Warlords, Age of Wonder(s) ... and I want it. Everything I've heard about it in interviews makes me drool. I want it more than Spore. More than Fallout 3. More than any MMO.

I'll even pay for it before it has a title. You can bill me for "Nameless Fantasy Game" and I won't care. Just give me access to...

Keeping up with the trend at Firaxis to relaunch older Sid Meier titles, the company has announced that Colonization is going to be released as a standalone expansion pack for Civilization 4. In it you will play as either English, Spanish, French or Dutch colonists trying to forge a new nation in the New World. It will include "Improved Diplomacy", multiplayer, a new interface and the brilliant level of moddability there is in Civ 4.

Personally I am looking forward to the game and will certai...

I may not be the most militaristic person in the galaxy, but I do know that I'm not the only person in the galaxy.

The production capabilities of Earth were slim - Earth didn't want to be pumping out ships, or even buildings. No, Earth was the bastion of free thought in the Terran Alliance - the place to be for the free exchange of ideas, even militaristic ones.

As such, most of the ideas had to do with researching and trade - research, for obvious reasons, and trade to pay for it all. S...

I always check in on Opinionated Techie every day - whether it's an entry on politics or gaming, his articles are informative, funny, and provocative. His last post is now a couple of days old, and the last few have been about GalCiv 2. This says to me that he's too busy to blog, hopefully because he's working hard to wow me even more with the next update.

Go Brad!

I've been following Galactic Civilizations 2 for close to 2months now, and I finally purchased it last week. There were 4 reasons why I didn’t buy it when it came out: I didn’t want it to get in the way of homework I had other games I was still playing (Civilization 4 and Beyond Good and Evil) I’m not exactly rolling in money No multiplayerLast week was Spring Break, which takes care of reason #1. Ialso came into some money, which takes care of reason #3. Reason #2 was alsotaken ...

Since this is the first time I've done this in a while, let me just get this out of the way: when I say "review," I don't mean it like all the big, bad game journalists do. When I review a game I look at some of key components of it. I also discuss some of the flaws of the game. At some point, I'll write a few conclusive paragraphs and, then when you get to the end of this article, what you're going to find is a line break and then nothing. What you won't find is a single, definitive statement o...

A while ago I wrote an article about how I actually pre-ordered a game, in that case it was UT2004. I never had pre-ordered a game before, and figured I probably never would. I was not disappointed at all with UT2004, but have lately played games less and less.

Well, I have had a second first.

I went ahead and just pre-ordered Galactic Civilizations II. Yeah, yeah, I know it isn't much of a pre-order (only one day!), but I did it anyway. I suppose that, given Stardock's track record, I...

Alright, alright, yeah, yeah, my list is the new and fair more unknown Duke Nukem Forever. There, I made the obvious joke. Burn in hell.

Civilization 4 -- Publisher: 2K Games, Developer: Firaxis
Anyone who's anyone knew that Civilization 4 was going to end up on this list. The only question was whether or not it would take the number one spot -- and, just for the record, it didn't. It was a close call between this and numero uno, but let me tell you, them monkeys I had tied up in my closet d...
