Ok, I was bored and playing around with the camera.

Just some shots of ugly ole me now that I have my full Summer look in place. Should be good for frightening small children.

Just ugly ole me

Just doing a bit of knitting

Just goofing around

Ok, enough of the horror show.
For some people, marriage between two people of the same sex insults their sensibilities. (and that is putting it mildly!)  It is religiously wrong, because they have some document that proves that it is wrong.  It trumps their sense of right and wrong.    All the implications that can be thought of for why this should not be, they will find it!

There are so many boxes that have been created in our lives.  Everything we do and all that we represent fits...

War   War is the closest thing to Hell mankind can imagine. So therefore Iwrite a poem on the wonderful perpetual motion machine we've madeourselves into.

War ruins life
it causes strife
But all we can do is cause more
it never changes, for it is war
but can we change it
without making ourselves be hit
It seems like we have the ablity to change
but we always seem to flange
And become the doppleganger
and the final destroyer
destroy more and more

There's dirty houses, buildings, streets, and neighbourhoods, but nothing beats a good dirty alley.

I don't have a whole list of streets in town to avoid, but like most towns, there's always a back alley with a discarded pair of underwear, a single shoe, and a bunch of random bottles, dead dry, of course.

I literally hang out in one back alley on a regular basis, having been prohibited to loiter (ie: smoke) in either the front or side of the building of where I work.  Because I've got...

Wow, I have to say that knitters are great. Knowing that my mother is going through this whole cancer surgery thing and soon to be going through chemo, a bunch of the folks on the main knitting site I frequent are getting together to knit her a bunch of chemo caps, socks, and who knows what else. Some of them are as far away as Scotland.

I am honestly touched by their caring and generosity. What a great bunch of people.

Today I went and bought myself a HeadBlade so that I could finish up getting into my Summer look. Not having any hair is so much easier out on the road.  When I do have hair (in the Winter) I rarely bother to comb it, I just put on a hat and move on.

In the past I have either shaved my head with an electric which just doesn't provide a very close shave, or with a regular razor which is somewhat awkward for the head. I had seen the HeadBlade in stores before and decided to give the thin...
Several years ago when I was in school I worked a part time job in security at a big high-rise building. It was during my time spent working there and in the general downtown area of a big city, that I observed the effects that wealth and power have on most people. Now as a disclaimer, wealth doesn't automatically turn people into jerks. I met lots of very well off folks who were the nicest people you'd ever meet. But by and large, there was a culture of superiority...
If a magic genie appeared from a lamp and asked me what I would wish for most I think I would probably ask for the normal things:

-May my adult children be happy in their lives. I am pleased that they have grown up in a loving environment and that peace in the home has been so important. I wonder how many families realise that a peaceful, supportive home life is so important. Many may say that conflict teaches children to deal with it but I believe children need stability. My two adult childr...

Lex Romanorum Introduction   Lex Romanorum is a series of stories I will be writing in pseudo-Latin(It means "Law of the Romans"). It will be set in ~40 BC Rome, following a messenger in the Roman Army. It's a pseudo-historicalfiction. It'll be written realistically, but will throw out someaccuracy for plot reasons. It's gonna be written in English, withasides in Latin. One will not need to know Latin to read it. It willhelp with some of the understanding of the ...

It's been a while since I posted a Friday Five, and that's actually going to be the topic of this Friday Five!

We all put things off, put things down, put things away.  Sometimes we put them off permanently, like the fellow who, on his death bed, wishes he'd spent more time with his family.  Sometimes we put things down and never pick them back up, like the 50 year-old who wishes they'd gotten a college degree but no longer has the time, energy, or motivation to do so this late...
Many musical artists have very interesting styles of writing music. One of my favorites is those who tell a short story in the song. Especially stories that shock you in the end.

The song Maria Teresa Y Danilo, played by salsa singers Hansel Y Raul tells the story of a rich family who’s father (Danilo) always dressed in suits and the mother Maria Teresa) always dressed in satin. The couple had 2 daughters, the older who wished to get married to her boyfriend. When the father met the b...
A couple of years ago, during my time in Puerto Rico, I would go to a local video store to get my fill of the latest DVD’s. While there I came across several VHS movies that I had seen as a child, brought back lots of memories. One movie, however, caught my attention, a movie I had not seen in years. I remember seeing Howard The Duck for the first time when it first came out in 1986. Back then this kind of animation was top of the line to some of us. I loved the movie; it was funny, cool a...

Now that warm weather seems to be here to stay I have shaaved off the Winter beard and am back to my normal Summer look. I did keep the Fu Manchu style moustache but am otherwise clean shaven again. It'll take me a few days to get used to myself in the mirror again.

Mom seems to be doing well with her recovery from the surgery. They're sending a nurse twice a day to help maintain her tracheotomy tube and with the feeding (liquid diet). I'm glad a professional is coming around to prevent infec...

Spam in the Middle of Nowhere   Ok, some of you know I'm the admin on the GearHead wiki. Now, we don'thave a chronic problem with spam. It's just a small part of maintence. Our problem is this: Why are there spammers on a wiki that sees tenpeople a day? Including spammers, lurkers, and myself (and the fellowadmin), we have a population of about 50, but we have little traffic(or so I estimate) off the main page. So why bother spamming if youdon't have a link to yo...

It feels like I've been on earlies for about 2 months now, though it's probably only been about 3 weeks. I start anywhere from between 6 to 7:30 in the morning, and it sucks the most as far as transportation goes; for example, tomorrow morning I have to cab it in because the earliest bus still hasn't hit the downtown terminal by the time I'm supposed to login.

I took a couple of sick days this week as I had the stomach flu. Now, I'm not frivolous with my days off, but man, was it ever lovely ...
