Today we announced that the subscription price for WinCustomize was going to go up $10/year from $20 to $30.  Now, of course we had to come up with a good justification for this, something that would fool the sheep of the forums into believing we did this for their own good and that they're getting the better end of the deal.

But, just between you and me?  Complete BS.

As some of you may know, today's Angie's birthday, so as a gift the company bought her a new car... ...

Hi,

Is anyone else seeing this problem on their WC homepage? :

It's not just on my page I see this but it is showing on any others that I view.
As you've probably already noticed, we put out an update to the central Stardock Forum system today that comes packed with fixes, plus a handful of very useful new features.  Instead of letting you guess randomly at what's new and how it works, I thought I'd give everyone a quick run-down of the new features.

I've been intimately using computers since the mid-80s and the internet for the last 8 years or so. After leaving the IT world in the late 90s I've been fortunate to live intimately with nature as a Scuba Diving Instructor for the last 10 years. I've lived on some beautiful islands in Central America (Roatan), the Eastern Caribbean (The Commonwealth of Dominica) and now I'm in the South China Sea (Tioman).

Even here, in Tioman (a very small island 50km off the east coast of Malaysia) I'm luck...

I just came across this article and thought it fascinating.
I've been saying this all along but some stubborn people just refuse to accept the facts of logic.

As MS alternative software and OS's gain in popularity, they WILL become targets. There is nothing more secure about them.
They simply have not been targets thus far

I recently discovered Digg.com

I am sure that most of you have been users (diggers as I believe they are called) of the site for many years. Or at least readers of the site.  There are many humorous and not so humorous things on the site.  A great place to waste your time I guess.

One thing that is very apparent about the website is that most of the contributors apparently are junvenile or simply immature.  Lots of "adult" humor, sexual humor, bathroom humor, anti-estab...

Welcome to my article about getting on the internet and not looking like a total ignorant biased jerk. I'm gonna make a list of no-no's.

No name calling. Not even if they deserve it.If you do have to call someone something, use references to make sure it does not have any worse meanings than what you wish to imply.Don't start flame wars, nor carry them on. You may mediate them, though. It's unlikely you'll get anywhere.
Most people, once anonymous, say whatever they think....

If you spend any amount of time on the Internet then I would probably bet you have be subjected to some form of talk about social networks.  Heck, even here on WinCustomize and JoeUser I regularly talk about the usefulness of such networks.  We have a growing group on Facebook about desktop customization, and several of us use Twitter as well.

With all these current networks, and more popping up all the time, it can be difficult to keep track of them all.  I use quite a few of ...

Piracy, whether it be of games, movies, software, or music is a pretty hot topic these days.  On one side you have people against piracy who usually claim copyright should be protected and what people are doing is just plain stealing.  On the other side there are people who think attempts to squash piracy are against someones "freedom" and argue that piracy doesn't affect the bottom line in business.

I have been looking through a bunch of websites that one could say the readers are ...

I am hoping since SoSE Forums are hosted on Stardock servers that I can request help here.  There's a thread I was foolish enough to start that really does need to be locked once and for all... and left that way.  The various ahh "forum participants" there are using it for their personal dumping ground.  It would be nice just to see that thing buried once and for all.  Any possible assistance in this would be appreciated.  The thread cannot be missed.  Tha...
