Let's talk about ME and MY family shall we?

What did I do this weekend?   Lots of stuff.  It was a good weekend.

First I went to an Extraordinary Women's Conference in Orlando and had a great time with my friend Jody.  We got there really early at 5pm on Friday.  The doors weren't supposed to open until 6 but we just walked in, picked up our packets and headed into the big arena.  To our surprise we were the first ones there....

Whenever I find myself having a little bit too much of a pity party my cure is to count my blessings.  It helps to fend off my pouts of poor, poor pitiful me.

I got a 25% tip at my face painting job Saturday.  It's a fun job and I wish I could do it full time.  I wish I were better but I've definately improved.  There's nothing quite like the look on those kids faces when they look in the mirror.

I took the boys fishing this weekend.  It's fun to get ou...

Just some random things that I wonder about

Why does someone always smell like BO at Gamestop and Half-Price Books but not so much at Play It Again Sports?  You would think that the people who are playing sports and looking at sports equipment would be sweatier and therefore stinkier than gamers and readers but you would be thinking wrong.

Why do bugs find me so appetizing?  I am always the only one getting eaten alive while everyone else wonders why I want to leave.  It mak...

Well a couple of weeks ago, Marcie and I were at a bookstore and since Im not much of a reader (danged attention span, Im lucky enough to get these blog threads out, lol), I started browsing the store and came across a book on cat breeds.

Im not totally knowledgable in the world of cats, especially their breeds.  Cleo is a big poofy cat...which I always just tossed into the domestic longhair breed.  She is in that, but more specifically I found a section on the longhairs ...

Mondays. God love ‘em, they’re really just another day but they get such a bad rap for their name.Monday.It means the first day of the week, when you up-and-at-‘em gotta go back to the proverbial salt mines after two days of real living. But then, for me, this is a day off –the LAST day off of six days in a row I had to burn or I would lose ‘em back to The Job. Heh, and ain’t NO WAY I was gonna give up my time of real living back to The Job. No way i...

I would rather take my chances out there on the ocean than stay here and die. -Tom Hanks as Chuck Nolan in Castaway~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I wasn’t really designed for this New Life I’ve been trying to live. I mean, I was actually created for the purpose of living in lazy excess, ya dig? Like smoking and drinking and eating too much and partying and sleeping in.  …And so far I’ve done a fairly good job at it too. But… this?...

Wowza. So today is the yin of yesterday’s yang outside (and in more ways than one). Sunny and warm. Instead of hearing rumbling thunder and rain, it’s all about birds chirping and the back-and-forth drone of some not-so-distant neighbor’s lawn mower. Looking out the window I see that everything has been washed clean and I begin to get a true feeling that spring has finally sprung in Texas.********* “Rollercoasters are intentionally designed to be uncomfort...

Happy April Fool's Day!

Hope you didn't get too much salt in your sugar bowl  or find your tennis shoes had the laces tied together.

March went out like a lion yesterday and all night into the wee hours of our first day of April.  High winds,  snow that melted during the day hours froze on the cars when the air turned cold.

It was mostly all gone by noon though,  and I drove down the county highway at 8:30 a.m.,  throwing caution to the wind,  enjoying...
Heaven

Heaven is just a note away

Heaven is lilacs in May

Heaven, it's a new box of crayons

Heaven is black etched trees against the fading light

with geese in flight

It's been a long day, week, winter...

and I"m longing for warm spring days

filled with sunlight and children's laughter

My favorite month, of course. is May

I waited all day for that Eagle

he flew right past my window

and I had to be on the phone

and couldn't reach the camera

What I got ins...

OK, this is sort of dumb.....but I'm just sitting here, taking a lunch break, checking my email and really enjoying my sandwich.  So I got to thinking of asking the JUsers what their favorite sandwich is.  Who knows maybe I'll come up with a new favorite.

I'm not especially a big sandwich eater.  Usually I'll opt for soup, leftover pasta or salad for lunch but on occasion I like to have a sandwich.

Today I'm eating a fresh tomato and cheese with ma...

My son turned 12 years old today.  That doesn't really seem possible.  I keep telling them that they have to stop growing because I'm not old enough to have kids that old.  His number one gift request is a chainmail to wear to the Scarborough Faire.  I don't know why he wants something that he can only wear for dress up but I guess if that's what he wants that's what he wants.  I found an online tutorial to make chainmail from the tabs from pop cans and he looked horrifi...
